The traditional method for Laser marking wood and Veneer has been IR lasers [typically Co2 lasers for these applications] The LP9000U series of UV lasers provides an alternative for laser marking wood and veneers when the traditional laser marking methods are not adequate to the application demands.

Laser marking wood and veneers with the LP9000 series of UV lasers offers several significant advantages over traditional methods:

• The LP9000U series of lasers create little or no debris, smoke, or flame unlike IR [Co2] laser marking where major smoke, flame and debris is produced the UV laser marking process is relatively clean with little or no debris.
• No trenching or digging into the wood, with the traditional Co2 laser marking of wood the laser digs trenches or depressions into the wood leaving a color contrasting depression or etch into the surface of the product. The LP9000U series of UV lasers provides the ability to laser mark clear easily readable color contrasting laser marks on the wood surface without any etching into or trenching of the wood surface, after laser marking your wood products with the LP9000U series of UV lasers from Worldwide Laser you can rub a gauge or file across the surface of the laser marking and you will not see any depression or etching into the product.
• The LP9000U series of UV lasers has a very small laser beam spot size, approximately 20 micro meters as opposed to the IR Co2 series of lasers which the smallest laser spot size is approximately 300 micro meters and can be a large as 800 micrometers, the smaller spot size of the LP9000U series of lasers allows for the laser marking fine details and highly professional appearing laser marks that are not always achievable with Co2 lasers.
