Many applications call for color contrasting marks on plastics Co2 lasers 9.3nm and 10.6nm] generally will etch and mark the plastics but do not provide color contrasting marks, YAG and Fiber lasers [1064nm to 1067nm] can sometimes provide color contrast but not always and in most cases YAG and Fiber lasers will create damage to the surface of the part being marked by creating trenching or by creating a raised area with a bubbly appearance.
