Ceramic

Ceramics are used in a wide range of industrial products laser marking these ceramic products with the traditional IR Co2, YAG, & Fiber lasers has always been a great challenge Co2 lasers etch ceramics which can damage the product also no color contrast is created by use of Co2 lasers for laser marking. YAG and/or Fiber lasers also remove material from the surface of the ceramic potentially creating damage to the ceramic product generally speaking color contrast is not created on the ceramic with YAG and Fiber lasers. Some end users with ceramic products have moved to placing additives into the ceramic [not always acceptable due to potential compromise of the product or regulatory issues] or by placing/spraying an additive onto the surface of the product a very labor intensive, messy, and expensive process complicated by the environment and health concerns associated with many additives.

The LP9000U series of UV lasers from Worldwide Laser provide an excellent method to place high quality color contrasting laser marks on ceramic products without any of the complications and products problems associated with the Co2, YAG, and Fiber laser marking methods. The small spot size of the LP9000U series of UV lasers provides the ability to place high quality professional appearing color contrasting laser marks on almost any ceramic product several pictures of ceramic laser marked with the LP9000U series of UV lasers are below:
