Laser Marking Plastic
This series of videos demonstrates how Worldwide Lasers LP series of laser marking systems can create color contrasting marks on plastic without any additives to the plastic and without any sprays or secondary manufacturing process taking place.

The laser used in these demonstrations is the LP9003U a 3 watt UV 355nm laser
The LP9000 series is unusually coupled with a Worldwide Laser galvo head allowing for very fast laser marking [the average laser marking time in the videos shown here is less then 2.0 seconds.]
The LP9000 series of lasers in fact all LP series of lasers YAG, Fiber, Co2 can also be coupled with fixed beam and x-y tables of rotary fixtures [see our systems division section for details and to view some of the types of turn key laser systems we have built for other customers].
The major advantages of the LP9000U 355nm laser system for plastic laser marking are:
- Color contrast for almost all types of plastics without additives or spray on products
- High speed laser marking up to 1300 characters per second
- Permanent non removable laser marking for product identification
- Low power of laser and little or no heat transfer into the product so 355nm laser marking is perfect for medical devises and pharmacy applications
- Lack of heat transfer from the laser means no damage to the electronics or circuits of the parts being laser marked
- lack of heat transfer from the laser means no etching or trenching into the surface of the part, the laser leaves a smooth clean surface so bacteria and debris do get have a place to grow
